We’ve been tuning in to Selena Gomez’s new Food Network showSelena + Restaurant, watching the actor-turned-foodie learn more culinary techniques from renowned chefs across Los Angeles. So we love that Gomez’s boyfriend, Grammy-nominated record producer Benny Blanco, is also a lover of food.

In fact, Blanco is a home cook himself and recently released his own cookbook, Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends. On a recent episode of The Howard Stern Show, Blanco shared that he even makes Gomez breakfast on the regular.

"Every day I try to make her her favorite breakfast,” Blanco shares with host Howard Stern. “Every single day."

Gomez’s go-to breakfast may be surprising, but it’s packed with protein and is simply delicious. Here are the variations that Blanco makes of the Only Murders in the Building star’s favorite morning meal.

"She wants the same thing every day,” he explains. “Her favorite thing is she either has chorizo and eggs in like a tortilla, chorizo and eggs in a quesadilla, chorizo and eggs and rice and beans—she wants some version of that.”

Chorizo and eggs is super easy to make—just scramble or fry up your eggs and add in some diced chorizo—and it’s incredibly satisfying to start the day with. Just like Gomez, we love it with a toasted tortilla like in our Green Eggs & Chorizo Tacos, which includes sliced avocado for added healthy fats as well as lemon zest and shallot for a fresh punch.

Eggs also have some amazing health benefits outside of their protein content. They’re packed with choline, which is great for your memory, nervous system and muscle function, among other things. Plus, eggs contain the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which are beneficial for your eye health.

Overall, we’re happy that Gomez has a breakfast that she truly loves and will keep her fulfilled each morning. We think Gomez would also love high-protein, highly rated recipes like our Egg & Sausage Casserole or Cauliflower Hash with Sausage & Eggs.
