Hertz, bankrupt by pandemic, puts thousands of cars up for sale

Hertz, which filed for bankruptcy last month, has put up thousands of its cars for sale.

An inventory search on the Florida-based company’s website on Saturday revealed more than 23,000 cars — of various makes, models and prices.

Hertz filed for bankruptcy protection on May 22, a move that was expected as the company battled against the headwinds of a pandemic that smashed the brakes on car rentals.

In a rare move, Hertz — which has seen its stock spike surprisingly after the bankruptcy filing — asked a bankruptcy judge for approval to sell up to $1 billion in high-risk shares.
