Here's what the Soup Flight of Lubbock should be, according to readers

Lubbock has finally entered the rainy and cold season, and as a result, the online community has been searching for soup flights.

Similar to beer and coffee flights where people can get three or four drink samples, a soup flight would do the same.

Despite the interest, only one Lubbock restaurant had soup flights on the menu last week - The Co-Op Public House, 4637 50th St. Suite #300. The owner also commented on the LBK Foodies page that if it was popular, it might stay on the menu.

With only one option in town, the A-J asked social media followers: If they had to make their own soup flight with options from local restaurants, what would they chose?

Here are some of those responses that listed three or more options:

  • Pho from I Love Pho, Green Chile Potato-Cheese from Caprock Cafe, Chicken Tortilla from Taqueria Jalisco and the Lobster Bisque from Double Nickel Steakhouse.

  • Loaded potato from Co-Op Public House, Prime Rib from Harrigan's Prime Grill, and French onion soup from The Tech Club.

  • Chicken soup from Stella's Restaurant, French onion from Harrigan's Prime Grill, and Hot & Sour from Mam's Thai Cuisine or Thai Pepper.

  • Prime Rib from Harrigan's Prime Grill, Broccoli and Cheese soup mixed with Creamy Potato soup from The Honeycomb Pie Shoppe #2, and Tom Yum from Mam’s Thai Cuisine.

  • Potato and Green Chile from Orlando’s, Chicken Pot Pie from Potbelly Sandwich Shop, and the clear soup from Hayashi.

  • French onion soup at Harrigan's Prime Grill, chicken tortilla soup from Chuy’s, and Hot and Sour soup from PF Chang’s.

  • Minestrone from Orlando's, Green Chile Stew from Rudy's BBQ, and Chile Verde from Rosa's.

  • Ground Beef Stew, Chicken N Dumpling and Oxtail soups from Doc's Cafeteria; and Chicken n Dumpling from Bucket of Love. This recommendation was posted by the owner of both restaurants.

As a note, some named choices were not locally-owned restaurants, including Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Chuy's, Rosa's, Rudy's BBQ and PF Chang's.

Several commenters named one or two soups as their favorites. Those soups included the Chicken Florentine Soup from Benito's, Tomato Basil Soup from The Honeycomb Pie Shoppe #2 and Green Chile Chicken soup from Longhorn Steakhouse. Three commenters said any soup from Honeycomb Pie Shoppe or Benito's would make their flight.

From the variety of comments, the most popular restaurants appeared to be Harrigan's Prime Grill at 11814 Indiana Ave. #3; The Honeycomb Pie Shoppe #2 at 3833 50th St. #3; Orlando's Italian Restaurants at 2402 Ave. Q and 6951 Indiana Ave.; and Mam's Thai Cuisine at 6309 66th St. #950.
