Here's how North DeSoto, Calvary, Quitman, Stanley advanced to LHSAA title tilts

North DeSoto, Calvary, Stanley and Quitman were Northwest Louisiana softball teams advancing Friday to Saturday’s LHSAA championships at Frasch Park in Sulphur.

Many, Converse and Logansport bowed out of the postseason event with semifinal losses after celebratory seasons.

Here’s a look at Friday’s contests:

Non-Select Division II

North DeSoto 11, North Vermilion 1: The Lady Griffins (30-4) had little trouble moving into the title game for a fourth consecutive season. NDHS has won three consecutive titles and seven of the last 10. The Lady Griffins have never lost in a championship game.

North Vermilion (24-7) put up little fight against the pitching of Louisiana Tech signee Laney Johnson, who tossed a one-hitter and delivered a home run. Reagan Henderson was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Mia Norwood had a double and two RBIs and Payton Miller was 2 for 4.

No. 1 NDHS meets No. 2 Lutcher at noon Saturday on Field 14 with their fourth state title on the line.

RAMBO: Calvary’s Ramsey “Rambo” Walker, an Arkansas signee, is a home run hitting machine

BIG K: Calvary’s Kynzee Anderson tosses perfect game, while Cavaliers launch homers

Non-Select Division III

Doyle 15, Many 0: The Lady Tigers (17-12) had a productive postseason run to make the semifinals, but Doyle (24-5) was dominant when it counted the most.

Non-Select Division IV

French Settlement 7, Logansport 2: Despite being the No. 1 seed in their division, the Lady Tigers (24-8) saw their season come to an end by French Settlement (19-10) behind a three-hitter. Emmarie Atkins, McKynzie Smith and Colby Rolfe managed the only hits for coach Kyle Creech.

Non-Select Division V

Quitman 6, Converse 0: Quitman (28-4) got a 12-strikeout, 2-hitter from LSU commitment Cali Deal to advance in D-IV. Maggie Guyotte and Deal hit home runs, while Anna Leach was 3 for 3 and Madison Chaplin had a triple for coach Justin Dodson.

Converse (16-9) managed two hits from Kraegan Jordan.

Stanley 8, Anacoco 3: The Lady Panthers (22-13) continued their improbable run in 2024 with a solid win over Anacoco (22-11). Alyssa Gooden and Karlee Jo Moton were each 2 for 3 with two RBIs while Riley Palmer had an RBI and Paige Campbell picked up the win with nine strikeouts.

Stanley and Quitman will meet at noon Saturday on Field 13 for the state title.

Select Division III

Calvary 8, Notre Dame 5: The Lady Cavaliers (34-2) struggled against Notre Dame (27-7) but were able to push through to a fourth straight championship game.

Despite its big guns of Ramsey Walker and DJ Lynch being thwarted at the plate, the Cavs got outstanding games from Baylor Bockhaus, Loren Sivils, Mallory Carver and Elana Franks to advance. Kynzie Anderson picked up eight strikeouts while allowing six hits.

Calvary will be seeking it’s sixth softball title under coach Tiffany Wood when they meet No. 3 Houma Christian at 3 p.m. Saturday on Field 17.
