Here's how all former Iowa State football players did in Week 15 of the NFL season
Week 15 of the NFL season is in the books, and several former Iowa State football players again significantly impacted how their team performed.
Brock Purdy, enough said. David Montgomery, consistent weapon. Allen Lazard, welcome back. Xavier Hutchinson and Will McDonald IV, trending upward even with limited action. That and more as we recap this week's former Cyclones showings.
Here's how all ex-Iowa State players performed in Week 15 of the NFL season.
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers QB
The improbable rise of this Iowa State legend added another chapter Sunday, as Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers clinched the NFC West title with a blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Purdy's stat line was again impeccable: 16-for-25 passing for 242 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He found Christian McCaffery and Deebo Samuel for two scores apiece, propelling San Francisco to the eventual 45-29 victory.
Another performance that'll certainly strengthen Purdy's MVP case.
David Montgomery, Detroit Lions RB
If anyone was questioning Detroit's prowess after a stunning loss to the Chicago Bears, the Lions sent a loud message with Saturday's 42-17 win over the Denver Broncos. Montgomery was right in the middle of the win.
The former Iowa State running back scampered for 85 yards on 17 carries while also adding two receptions for minus-3 yards. Montgomery's steadiness has been a big reason why the Lions are having their best season in quite some time.
