Here's what new businesses, expansions will come to Lubbock in 2024

The new year will ring in many new businesses and expansions, from food to infrastructure. After 2023 saw 111 new businesses come to the Hub City, here's an early glimpse into what Lubbock could see in 2024.

Here's a look at what new businesses, expansions may be coming to Lubbock in 2024:

3:23 Golf Performance

What: This business will offer coaching for golf.

When: Early 2024.

Where: 13405 County Road 1600, Suite 159.

Betenbough Companies Operations Center

What: The facility will be a 41,300 square foot state-of-the-art building that can hold about 400 employees, and is expected to open in the spring or summer of 2024.The building will have a garden, recording studio with a cyclorama wall, 12 meeting spaces and a Falkbuilt flooring system.

When: Early 2024.

Where: 5307 82nd St.

Big Chicken

What: Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken restaurant has various dishes named after important figures in his life, including Lucille’s Mac N' Cheese, named after his mother. Some of the menu's highlights include a cookie the size of a standard NBA basketball, and sandwiches made with 5.5oz of chicken. The franchisee, Coby Jones, plans to add locations to the Midland-Odessa area, Amarillo and Oklahoma City in the next few years.

When: Unannounced, possibly the first quarter of 2024.

Where: 7411 Milwaukee Ave.

Champs Sports Bar

What: Champs Sports Bar announced its expected return to Lubbock, nearly three years after closing the doors at its location at 4525 Milwaukee Ave #600.

When: Early 2024.

Where: 5028 50th St., formerly East Moon.

Dave's Hot Chicken

What: Dave's Hot Chicken specializes in hot chicken tenders and sliders, with spice levels ranging from “No Spice” to “Reaper." It also offers Kale Slaw, creamy Mac & Cheese and crispy Fries or Cheese Fries. The company entered a franchise agreement with Mickey Rogers and Daniel Stanton, who will open locations in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland and Odessa.

When: Middle of 2024.

Where: Lubbock, address unconfirmed.

Dura-Line

What: Dura-Line is a global manufacturer and distributor dealing in telecommunication infrastructure. That includes "conduit, FuturePath, cable-in-conduit, and accessories," according to the company's website. The company's high-density polyethylene pipe is used in telecommunications and natural gas distribution. The Lubbock facility will manufacture plastic conduit for fiber-optic lines.

When: Second half of 2024.

Where: Lubbock Logistics Center II, 904 Lubbock Business Park Blvd.

F&F Japanese Grill

What: The Fast & Furious Japanese Grill confirmed that a Lubbock location is under construction.

When: Unannounced.

Where: 6616 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 400

Fuddruckers

What: Fuddruckers Restaurant, known as the home of the "World's Greatest Burger," closed its location at 5501 Slide Road on Dec. 24. This was due to the upcoming move to a new location on Milwaukee Avenue.

When: January.

Hawaiian Bros. Island Grill

What: The Hawaiian Bros. Grill was rumored to join Lubbock, and has confirmed its Hawaiian cuisine will hit the Hub City.

When: Officials would not confirm an opening timeline, but did state they would open in 2024.

Where: 5501 Slide Road.

Hope Tower of Covenant Medical Center

What: The six-story Hope Tower, which had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can house up to 89 patients, with an additional 60 rooms being able to be built on floors 5 and 6 in the future.

When: January.

Where: Corner of 21st Street and Louisville Avenue.

Hydroflo Pumps

What: The company manufactures "vertical and submersible turbine pumps for industries including agricultural, commercial, industrial, municipal and other specialized markets."

When: Production could begin in early 2024.

Where: 1802 E. 50th St.

J&M BBQ

What: The longtime Lubbock barbecue restaurant plans to open an additional location.

When: Unannounced.

Where: 6023 82nd St., formerly Double Dave's.

Momotaro

What: This new restaurant, named after a Japanese folk hero, will offer a sushi buffet, hibachi and hot pot.

When: Unannounced.

Where: 8004 Indiana Ave., B18, formerly the location of King Street Pub.

Motomedi

What: The Mediterranean restaurant will offer the first 100 customers 50% off of their bowl/order on opening day.

When: Jan. 3.

Where: 11417 Slide Road #500.

Organica Juice & Smoothie Co.

What: This mobile food business will focus on healthy eating. The menu will include smoothies, soups and salads.

When: March.

Where: People can follow the business on Facebook for updates.

Sabor Brasileira

What: On Nov. 10, Daniel Nelson announced via LBK Foodies on Facebook that he plans to open a Brazilian steakhouse. In Nelson's announcement, he said it will serve Brazilian style steaks, linguisa, pastels, coxinha, Pao De Queijo, and other Brazilian treats.

When: March.

Where: 4930 S. Loop 289, Suite 204.

Salata Salad Kitchen

What: Salata offers fully customizable salads and wraps with ingredients freshly prepared every day and never frozen. There are 70 options for salad inclusions, 11 homemade dressings, and their kitchens offer soups as well. The restaurants also use locally grown fruits and vegetables.

When: Unannounced, but possibly early 2024.

Where: There are three locations expected, though addresses have not been announced. The franchisees did indicate interest in Lubbock's south side in an earlier interview.

SIMFLO Offices

What: SIMFLO is a company that makes industrial pumps and technologies. The building, which is an estimated $1.5 million investment, will have its human resources, financing, accounting and marketing offices.

When: June 1.

Small Sliders

Smalls Sliders will come to Lubbock in 2024.

What: Smalls Sliders, a cheeseburger slider concept that began in Louisiana in 2019, announced their expansion into West Texas with a franchising agreement with ARJH Encore LP, LLC.

When: Late 2024.

The Human Bean

What: The Oregon-based coffee shop known for chocolate-covered espresso beans, community fundraising and sustainably-sourced drinks announced that they would enter the Lubbock market in 2024.

When: Spring of 2024.

The Plaza Restaurant & Bar

What: The Mexican restaurant will add a second location in Lubbock, and was the expansion that got the ball rolling on the 114.Slide commercial complex.

When: January.

Urban Air Adventure Park

What: Urban Air Adventure Park, an indoor park with a café and 20 different attractions, once announced it would open in Lubbock in 2017. While that did not happen then, the entertainment hub with rope courses, go-karts, laser tag and more confirmed it secured deals to open in Lubbock and Abilene.

When: Unannounced.
