Hendersonville man wins big in lottery after purchasing $50 scratch-off

Hendersonville's Jeremy Villa-Osornio got a big surprise when he purchased a $50 scratch-off from Citistop gas station on Weaverville Road in Asheville recently.

Villa-Osornio bought his lucky $10 Million Spectacular ticket and ended up winning a $100,000 prize. According to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery, he arrived at lottery headquarters April 10 to claim his prize and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $71,514.

The $10 Million Spectacular game debuted in December with five top prizes of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000, the release said. Four $10 million prizes, 15 $1 million prizes and 13 $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
