The Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens is hosting its annual diaper drive, with donations coordinated by Diaper Bank of North Carolina-Lower Cape Fear. The Lower Cape Fear branch supplies families with diapers so a family doesn't have to choose between care for their children or food on the table.

Through the end of March, residents can donate diapers, packaged baby wipes, adult incontinence products, formula and other hygiene items.

“With costs rising for everything, we hope that people will remember that diapers are not a right but a privilege, to which not everyone has access," museum director Christine Lamberton said.

What's needed?

On the list of high-priority needs are baby wipes and pull-up diapers.

The drive will accept opened and unopened packs of diapers and pull-ups for children and adults. Baby wipes, diaper cream, formula, and pantyliners are also accepted, but must be brand new and unopened. Tab or diaper-style adult products are not accepted at this time.

Where can you make donations?

Donations can be dropped off Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the visitors' center of Burgwin-Wright House, 224 Market St., downtown Wilmington.

Anyone who donates will be entered into a raffle to win a gift basket of products donated by Trader Joe’s.
