Say hello on World Hello Day

World Hello Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated on November 21 by 180 countries to illustrate the importance of personal communication for preserving peace. People are encouraged to participate by simply greeting 10 people. Nobel Peace Prize winners, almost 100 authors, entertainers, and world leaders are among the people who have noted World Hello Day’s value as an instrument for preserving peace and as an occasion that makes it possible for anyone in the world to contribute to the process of creating peace. Remember to greet someone kindly on this day.

Our community is so diverse and rich in culture that saying Hello could come in several different languages. In High School and College I studied the French language. While, I should be more fluent than I currently am I still enjoy using the language. But as I became a librarian there have been several times that I thought I should have taken Spanish instead, it would have been more relevant to my job.

But I believe it is never too late to learn something new. We have several databases and many resources within the library to help you learn. All that will never cost you a subscription fee. Anything from Spanish to Pirate languages are available. So why not learn a few?
