Heavy rain, strong winds forecast for Erie region. There's also a chance of severe storms.

Moderate to heavy rain could cause flooding in low-lying areas of Erie and Crawford counties tonight through Friday.

An inch to an inch and a half of rain is possible, said Meteorologist Doug Kahn of the National Weather Service forecast office in Cleveland.

Strong wind is also in the forecast with gusts as high as 45 mph on Thursday and gusts above 45 mph on Friday.

There is also a slight risk of severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening. The hazardous weather outlook for the region includes the potential of severe storms, damaging wind gusts, tornadoes and large hail between 2 and 10 p.m.

The risk level for severe weather is 2 on a scale of 5, according to the Weather Service.

"Rain and cloud cover could limit available energy for the storm," Kahn said.

Today's high temperature will be about 59 degrees with a low tonight around 51.

Thursday's high will be about 70 degrees with the low Thursday night around 45.

High temperature Friday will be about 51 degrees. Low will be around 40.
