‘Our hearts are with the people of Allen,’ TX Governor Abbott says after outlet mall shooting

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott offered the full support of the state to local officials following a shooting Saturday afternoon at the Allen Premium Outlets.

At a news conference Saturday night, officials gave an update, saying that nine people including the shooter had died and seven victims remained hospitalized. The victims included children.

Medical City Healthcare system said it was treating eight patients between the ages of 5 and 61. Two patients died at hospitals.

“Our hearts are with the people of Allen, Texas tonight during this unspeakable tragedy,” Abbott said in a statement. “I have been in contact with Mayor (Ken) Fulk and DPS Director (Steven) McCraw as well as other state and local leaders and offered the full support of the State of Texas to local officials to ensure all needed assistance and resources are swiftly deployed, including DPS officers, Texas Rangers, and investigative resources.”
