Hearts and Flowers: St. Edward Guild hosts annual Valentine luncheon and fashion show

Hearts and flowers were the order of the day as the members of the St. Edward Guild gathered for the annual Valentine Luncheon and fashion show.

The event, co-chaired by Priscilla Schmeelk and Michelle Manolis, took place Feb. 7 at the Beach Club.

Guests began the afternoon with a social hour ― punctuated by postcard views of the turquoise Atlantic ― before moving to the Ocean Ballroom, decorated in a Valentine’s theme of pink and white florals and hearts.

After a welcome from the luncheon co-chairs and a thank-you from Guild president Joanie Huff, the Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Glen Pothier offered a prayer and thanked Guild members for their support of the church.

Pothier was attending his second Valentine Luncheon since becoming pastor of St. Edward and spiritual adviser to the Guild.

The event continued with lunch and a resort fashion show by Shoes 'n More with Guild members Elizabeth Ailes, Mary Bryant McCourt, Cathy Goltz, Karen Beil and Jennifer Marcello, along with Shoes 'n More staff, acting as models.

More than 150 people attended, including Bridget Moran; Guild officers Huff, Golz and Jean McCoy Phillips; and past presidents Florence Berney, Jo Anne Burkholder and Mary Lynn Rogers.

Proceeds from the afternoon assist the Guild in its mission to support the faith formation programs of the parish including Catholic education, charitable works in the diocese, and various community outreach programs.
