Hawaiian-Owned Businesses to Shop Now to Support Maui

Tourism is at the heart of Maui’s economy, and when catastrophic fires ripped through Hawaii’s second-largest island in Agust, they destroyed large swaths of hotels, storefronts and restaurants — and, as a result, wrecked many residents' livelihoods. Sadly, it could take years to rebuild, costing the local economy billions of dollars. Even worse, the fires devastated many people on a personal level, with some losing homes and loved ones.

When tragedy strikes, it's hard not to feel helpless, but there are lots of ways to support those affected. One of the most important is to invest in the local economy. These Hawaiian-owned businesses are donating 100% of profits to Maui's recovery. By purchasing any of the items below, you are helping organizations like the Maui Humane Society, the American Red Cross, regional food banks and much more.

Honolulu Makers Market

Pick up a #prayformaui fundraiser sticker (or two) from Honolulu Makers Market — 100% of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross of Hawaii to aid in providing shelter for those displaced by the fires. The sticker is vinyl and measures 3 inches by 3 inches.

SoHa Living

One hundred percent of the sale of any item from the Maui Strong Collection will be donated to Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, the Maui Food Bank and Salvation Army Hawai‘i. The collection includes a variety of tote bags, cosmetic bags, magnets, wooden signs and more in an array of designs.

Aida Salehi

This North Shore artist will donate 100% of proceeds from her "Nohoanu" print to the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s matched donation fund. The print shows a Hawaiian Red Cranesbill flower, a rare species of geranium only found in Maui.

Twiggy Hawai‘i

All proceeds from the sale of items from the Japanese Pink + Yellow Collection will be donated to the Aloha Diaper Bank. But move fast — many of the limited edition pouch styles are already sold out!

Pali Swim

Purchase a "Hawai'i Seasonal Color Wheel" by Sasha Duerr and 100% of sales will be donated to the Maui Food Bank. The wheel represents the colors of dyes that can be made from locally foraged plants, celebrating the biodiversity of the area.

Mohala Eyewear

Proceeds from sunglasses or glasses purchased from the Maui Wildfires Relief Collection will be donated to Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund. Mohala Eyewear, which offers a variety of nose-bridge styles, sells both regular glasses and sunglasses.

Kaiao Space

Purchase an item from Kaiao Space's online art print fundraiser, like this one by Nani Welch Keliʻihoʻomalu, and 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement's Kako‘o Maui Fund and Chef Hui’s Feed the People Maui Fund. More than a dozen artists have contributed prints, so there's something to suit many tastes.

Keiko Jewelry

Proceeds from the sale of Keiko Jewelry's My Little Opihi collection, including this 14k gold, 8mm Opihi pendant, benefit the Maui United Way, the Maui Strong Fund and the Maui Humane Society. Designer Kristi Hayashida was inspired by her lifelong love of diving for shells in Oahu.
