While James Corden's last-ever Late Late Show episode didn't gift us a One Direction reunion in the end, Harry Styles has teased that it could still happen one day.

The singer appeared on the final edition of the show last night (April 27), where he played a game of 'Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts' with Corden and Will Ferrell.

Opening the envelope for his first question, Styles read out: "Yes or no, will there be a One Direction reunion? Will it ever happen?".

In response, the star teased: "I would never say never to that. I think if there was a time where we all felt like that was what we wanted to do, then I don't see why we wouldn't."

It comes after tabloid reports emerged earlier this month that the boyband could be getting back together on the final edition of Corden's show, though The Late Late Show subsequently shut down the speculation.

"Nobody loves the boys more than us ... but this story just isn't true," they responded. "What is true is we've got an absolutely brilliant 2 hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10pm on April 27th."

Speaking ahead of the final episode of his show, Corden told Capital FM why they decided against having One Direction reform on the show, saying that he's "a huge fan personally and professionally of that whole band".

He went on to explain: "I actually think, if we're being completely honest with ourselves when the day comes for them to reform or just be seen together, it shouldn't be in a four or five minute segment on a late-night talk show.

"It should be an hour long doc, followed by a tour, followed by an album. So we knew we had to be very, very quick to just say, 'No, no, no. I promise you, this isn't going to happen'."

The Late Late Show with James Corden aired on CBS in the US, and on Sky Comedy and NOW in the UK.
