Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs appears as Cary Grant in a first look at upcoming biopic Archie.

The actor, who portrayed Lucius Malfoy in six of eight films in the Harry Potter franchise, is charting the life and career of Archibald Alex Leach, and his journey to become distinguished actor Cary Grant.

The first look pictures of the four-part drama show Isaacs's full visual transformation into Grant, who was one of Old Hollywood's definitive leading men.

In the images, Isaacs as Grant is seen languishing by a pool using a telephone, as well as gesturing proudly at his estate, and reclining on a settee.

Archie will explore all facets of Grant/Leach's life, included his unhappy childhood in Bristol and personal struggles with fame, despite box office smashes and irrefutable success in his career.

The Sex Education actor will be joined by Killing Eve and Bridgerton stars Harriet Walter and Calam Lynch. Walter will play Elise Leach (Cary's mother) and Lynch will portray one of many young versions of Archie, alongside Oaklee Pendergast and Dainton Anderson.

Further castmembers include Laura Aikman (Gavin and Stacey) as Cary's ex-wife Dyan Cannon, as well as Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Ragdoll), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street), Ian McNeice (Doc Martin), Jason Watkins (McDonald & Dodds), Lisa Faulkner (EastEnders) and Niamh Cusack (The Virtues).

Isaacs has previously explained why playing 'Archie' rather than Cary Grant was of particular interest to him: "There was only one Cary Grant and I'd never be foolish enough to try to step into his iconic shoes. Archie Leach, on the other hand, couldn't be further from the character he invented to save himself.

"Jeff's brilliant scripts bring to life his relentless struggle to escape the demons that plagued him, his obsessive need for control, his fears, his weaknesses, his loves, and his losses. It's the story of a man, not a legend, and those are shoes I can't wait to walk in."

Archie will air on ITVX in November.
