Harry and Meghan – latest news: Duke’s Nazi costume ‘to feature in next series of The Crown’

The Duke of Sussex’s Nazi costume that he wore at the age of 20 will be recreated in the next series of The Crown, The Sun has reported.

Prince Harry donned the offensive costume for a friend’s fancy dress party, but later apologised for his actions. In his 2022 Netflix docuseries, he called wearing the uniform the “biggest mistake of my life”.

It comes after reports that the Sussexes’ children Archie and Lilibet have not yet been invited to King Charles’s coronation in May. According to The Telegraph, the children’s participation will be discussed after the couple confirm their own attendance at the royal ceremony.

Questions over whether the couple will attend the King and Queen Consort’s coronation are still hanging over the occasion.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan told The Times that they have received “email correspondence” about the coronation, but no decision has been disclosed about whether they will accept the invitation or not.

Meanwhile, Prince Edward was named the new Duke of Edinburgh last week, taking his late father’s title. His wife, Sophie, is now the Duchess of Edinburgh and their son James is the new Earl of Wessex.

It comes as Buckingham Palace officially updated the royal family’s website to reflect the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children’s new titles.

Prince Andrew in ‘despair’ that King Charles has not shared £650million inheritance

Prince Andrew is “in despair” that the King has not shared out their mother’s inheritence, according to reports.

King Charles III was the sole beneficiary of the Queen’s £650million estate, under a 1993 agreement meaning no inheritance tax was owed.

The King’s siblings Princess Anne, 72, and Prince Edward, 59, as well as Prince Andrew, 63, inherited nothing from the Queen, and are said to share “some resentment” because of this.

Prince Harry’s Nazi costume to feature in next series of The Crown, report claims

08:34 , Kate Ng

It has been reported by the Duke of Sussex’s Nazi costume, which he wore to a fancy dress party in 2005, will be recreated in the forthcoming series of The Crown.

Prince Harry previously described wearing the offensive costume as the “biggest mistake of my life”. He was 20 at the time and wore the uniform, complete with a swastika armband, to a friend’s party. He later apologised for his actions.

In his Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan, the duke said: “It was probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I felt so ashamed afterwards. All I wanted to do was make it right.”

The Sun quoted a source as saying that it was “kind of ironic that Netflix is the one to bring up this incident” after Harry spoke about “a huge level of unconscious bias” within the royal family in his docuseries.

Harry and Meghan’s ‘factually inaccurate’ statement on Lilbet christening

Friday 10 March 2023 09:29 , Ellie Muir

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has pointed out a factual inaccuracy in the statement issued by representatives for Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which announced the christening of their one-year-old daughter Lilibet.

On Wednesday (8 March), it was revealed that Meghan and Harry’s youngest child Princess Lilibet Diana was christened at their family home in Los Angeles on Friday (3 March).

The statement said: “I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, 3 March by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor.”

During Thursday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, however, host Garraway claimed that the statement contained a “factual inaccuracy”.

As she hosted Thursday’s show alongside Ben Shepherd, Garraway explained: “They put out a statement saying the Princess Lillibet was christened last Friday by the bishop of Los Angeles”.

She continued: “But actually in the statement, they called him the Archbishop of Los Angeles, which is factually inaccurate and you just think, gosh, someone who is so keen on accuracy and representation – it seems so unhelpful that things like that are wrong.”

“You worry that the Sussexes don’t particularly help themselves, don’t you?” she added.

The oil used to anoint the King and Queen Consort Camilla in the coronation on 6 May will be cruelty-free.

This oil was used at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and is based on a formula that has been used for hundreds of years.

The altered formula for the holy oil for King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla’s coronation reflects concerns about animal cruelty and the need to protect wildlife.

“London is a better fit. The Sussexes have always wanted rooms at Buckingham Palace. They could have Andrew’s old rooms there, which are currently being vacated.”

The Independent has contacted the relevant representatives for comment, but a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told The Mirror: “I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor.”

Originally, Lilibet, one, and her older brother Archie, three, weren’t given HRH titles at birth due to their position in the line of succession. At the time, they were the great-grandchildren of the monarch.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September, Charles became King. As a result, Archie and Lilibet became the grandchildren of a monarch, which changed their royal roles.

At present, the children are listed as Master Archie and Miss Lilibet on the royal website.

A royal source told The Mirror: “As the duke and duchess have now confirmed this, the website will now be updated in due course.”

Piers Morgan name-checked Meghan Markle during his acceptance speech at the Sports Journalism Awards.

Morgan received the Scoop of the Year award at the ceremony on Monday evening (6 March), for his interview with Cristiano Ronaldo.

While acknowledging those who’d contributed to him getting the accolade, the broadcaster decided to mention Meghan as a person responsible for his success.

“I’d also like to thank Meghan Markle, without whom there wouldn’t be a TalkTV Piers Morgan Uncensored,” he told the crowd.

According to journalists at the event, this remark was met with groans and other audible expressions of discomfort.

Archie and Lilibet reportedly given royal titles of prince and princess following row

Wednesday 8 March 2023 13:56 , Ellie Muir

The two children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will now be known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, a royal source has confirmed.

The statement comes after Lilibet was christened “Princess Lilibet Diana” at a ceremony in California on Friday (3 March).

It follows a royal row over titles that erupted when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Originally, Lilibet, one, and her older brother Archie, three, weren’t given HRH titles at birth due to their position in the line of succession. At the time, they were the great-grandchildren of the monarch.

King Charles III and the Prince of Wales were reportedly not in attendance at the christening of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter, Lilibet Diana.

People reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held a christening for the 21-month-year-old last Friday (3 March) in an intimate ceremony at their home in Montecito, California.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told People: “I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, 3 March by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor.”

It comes as reports suggest that the Sussexes’ children have been given royal titles Prince Archie and and Princess Lilbet.

The source reportedly told the publication that Meghan Markle, 41, and Prince Harry, 38, extended an invite to King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, but they were “not in attendance”.

The Grade II-listed Frogmore Cottage has been part of the royal family’s property portfolio since the 19th century.

Over the years, various members of the royal family have lived in the 10-bedroom house, which was first built as a retreat for Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III, in 1801.

It is currently known for being the first marital home and UK residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
