Happy March! Here’s to Women’s History Month, Easter and Saint Patrick’s Day

March is the time of year when people are looking forward to spring break and spending time with their families during their retrospective holidays. Some families celebrate Holi (March 25) and others are celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day (March 17). But that's not all—we've got all of the March holidays and observances to know about in 2024!

If you are celebrating a birthday in March, you are either considered a Pisces (February 19-March 20) or an Aries (March 21-April 20). And there's plenty of other excitement this month as the first day of Daylight Savings happens on March 10 (so it starts to stay lighter outside later, but we lose an hour of sleep!), along with various monthly, weekly and daily celebrations, including Easter, which comes at the very end of this month. Plus the first day of spring comes in March on March 20 with the spring equinox

March has a lot of health-related themes attached, including Developmental Disability Awareness Month, Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month and Endometriosis Awareness Month. Some of the weeks in March are focused on health as well, like International Brain Awareness Week (March 11-March 17) and National Sleep Awareness Week (March 10-March 16), while others celebrate desserts like Chocolate Chip Cookie Week (March 3-March 9) and American Chocolate Week (March 17-March 23).

Celebrating women and their accomplishments is a focus in March as well—after all, it's Women's History Month! Women In Construction Week (March 3-March 9) falls right before Girl Scouts Week (March 10-March 16), which is always the week that includes the Girl Scouts's birthday (March 12).

What Major Holidays Are Happening in March?

You always hear people say, “Beware the ides of March!” (from the Shakespeare play, Julius Caesar), but March isn’t all bad as a month. March reminds us that spring is on its way and that it’ll start to get warmer outside. Saint Patrick’s Day, on March 17, is notably March’s most famous annual holiday.

Plus, Women’s History Month is also in March, helping to celebrate women throughout history and their amazing accomplishments.

One holiday that is religiously more important, though, isn't a set date every year. Easter falls on Sunday, March 31, 2024 this year, while it was in April last year.
