Celebrate Hanukkah: Eight days of Festival of Lights events around Columbus

Celebrating Hanukkah? The Jewish holiday begins Thursday evening and ends Friday, Dec. 15.

The Festival of Lights lasts eight evenings, and there's an events including menorah lightings, cookie decorating parties and more each day throughout Columbus, including:

Menorah Lighting at Easton Town Center

Easton Town Center and Chana’s Columbus will hold a menorah lighting 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. The holiday party will feature raffle prizes, music, dancing, dreidels and sufganiyot (Israeli donuts) along with refreshments.

Bryan Finkelstein, of Columbus, lights Hanukkah candles at Congregation Tifereth Israel, 1354 East Broad St., as part of  an evening event entitled "Do It Yourself Judaism" on Thursday, December 29, 2016, the sixth day of Hanukkah. Rabbi Alex Braver led the event where participants learned about Hanukkah, its rituals, and its meanings,  and also learned how to make latkes, potato pancakes.

Maccabee Landing Dreidel Drop & Chanukah Candy Cannon

At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a Maccabee Hero will skydive into Bevelhymer Park to light the menorah, followed by a helicopter dreidel drop and a candy cannon shooting Hanukkah candles.

The free event will take place at Bevelhymer Park Yellow Zone, 7950 Bevelhymer Road, Westerville, OH 40381.

Friday Night of Lights

On Friday at 4:30 pm., guests at the Schottenstein Chabad Center in New Albany will enjoy a menorah lighting followed by a three-course meal.

Bexley Menorah Lighting

On Sunday at 6 p.m., donuts, dreidels, dancing and apple cider will be provided at the Bexley Menorah Lighting at Drexel Circle with Chabad Columbus.

The event is free and open to the public.

Jewish Heritage Night with the Columbus Blue Jackets

On Sunday at 10 p.m., the Columbus Blue Jackets will play the Florida Panthers. Guests will participate in lighting the menorah and might take part in a postgame slapshot on the ice.

Tickets are $50 and include a Hebrew Columbus Blue Jackets beanie. Kosher food will be served.

Hanukkah Celebration at Franklin Park Conservatory

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is hosting a Hanukkah celebration Monday from 5-7:30 p.m. along with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus. The event is part of the garden's holiday exhibition, Conservatory Aglow.

The event will include children's crafts, activities, entertainment and a public menorah lighting at 7 p.m.

Ice Skating & Menorah Lighting at Chiller Easton

On Monday at 4:30, the OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks at Easton Town Center and Chabad Columbus will host a "fire and ice" menorah lighting and ice skating party with Chanukah music, crafts, donuts and more. Admission is $10, and registration is online.

The Ohio State House Menorah Lighting and Party for Young Jewish Professionals

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., a Hanukkah party in the statehouse museum gallery will follow the statehouse menorah lighting.

Chanukah Winter Wonderland

Kitchen of Life on 2525 E. Main St. will host cookie decorating and whimsical Hanukkah crafts. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Attendees can RSVP online.

CTeen Limo Drive

CTeen, a network for Jewish teens, will give teens an opportunity to ride in a limo with a Menorah fixed to the top with Hanukkah music and a dreidel championship at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
