New Hanover's Cashmere James, Hoggard's Damian Bounds lead StarNews Athlete of the Week

The spring high school sports postseason is revving up as baseball and softball join the playoff madness this week.

While baseball hasn't reached the postseason just yet, Hoggard's Damian Bounds delivered a poised performance as he went 2-for-4 with four RBIs as the Vikings edged out South Brunswick 9-6 on Tuesday.

New Hanover's Cashmere James proved he's the Mideastern Conference's best sprinter, winning the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes during Tuesday's MEC track and field championship meet.

Finally, in boys lacrosse, Ashley sophomore Ethan Tribble came ready to impress in Wednesday's playoff victory over Fuquay-Varina, scoring five goals and assisting on one more.
