Hannah Longmire, Ethan Kelly voted the Register's Iowa Ortho Athletes of the Week

Iowa City West girls track and field athlete Hannah Longmire and Waukon boys track and field athlete Ethan Kelly were voted the Des Moines Register's Iowa Ortho female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of May 13-19.

Longmire was voted female Athlete of the Week with 56% of the vote. Panorama girls track and field athlete Jaidyn Sellers took second with 43%.

Ambulatory events were new to the Iowa high school state track and field meet in 2024, and Iowa City West's Hannah Longmire won three of them.

Longmire took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.83 seconds. She was also first in the 200 (32.67) and 400 (1:17.01).

Kelly won male Athlete of the Week with 57% of the vote. Adel-Desoto-Minburn boys track and field athlete Brevin Doll was second with 37%.

Kelly won three events in the inaugural boys ambulatory competition at the state track and field meet.

He won two events on the track and one on the field. He was first in the 100 (13.86), 200 (28.29) and shot put (38-10).
