Hammonton police seek erratic driver, find deadly crash

HAMMONTON — Police officers looking for an erratic driver found a motorist dead in his overturned vehicle.

The brief search began around 10 p.m. April 19, when Hammonton police were told a driver had run a stop sign and almost caused a collision at North Egg Harbor Road and East Orchard Street.

The vehicle was found flipped in an embankment on North Egg Harbor Road near North Chew Road, about 1½ miles from the initial sighting.

The driver, 32-year-old Erick Barahona-Pinedo of Hammonton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The single-vehicle accident is under investigation, police said.
