These Halloween costumes will be the most popular in SC for 2023, study shows
Halloween is just around the corner. With only a couple of weeks left to plan for a costume, do you have one in mind yet?
If you need any ideas, a recent study by Boohoo, an online fashion company for women’s and men’s clothing, conducted research by viewing Google Trends data from the past month to find the most popular costumes predicted for South Carolina for Halloween 2023.
For this year’s holiday, residents in the Palmetto State are projected to favor pirate and Wonder Woman costumes for the annual spooky holiday.
Pirate attire ranked as the most searched for ‘traditional costume’ and Wonder Woman was revealed to be the most popular pop culture costume among the most searched outfits for Halloween.
As for the rest of the country, following the recent “Barbie” movie that hit theaters earlier this year, Barbie is the nation’s top choice for pop culture costumes this October. Several states were found to have the attire as their most searched costume.
Following its box office debut in July of this year, the “Barbie” film became Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing worldwide release to date, influenced major societal discussions and even influenced present-day fashion, including the ever-imminent upcoming costume holiday Halloween.
As for other popular pop culture costumes, Wednesday Addams from “The Addams Family” and the recent Netflix Original series “Wednesday” came in as the second most popular costume choice in the country.
Next, Princess Peach from “Super Mario Bros” was the third most Googled pop culture costume, closely followed by Harley Quinn and Weird Barbie tying for fourth place and Cruella de Vil and Wonder Woman tying for the place of the fifth most popular pop culture costume in America.
As for more traditional costumes, skeletons ranked as the most popular in the United States, according to Google searches in many different states, while ghosts landed in second place by a slim margin.
Vampires and zombies followed closely behind and tied for third after being Googled the most in a total of six different states and witches costumes landed in fourth overall. Lastly, dog or pirate costumes tied for fifth place.
