The Way Home follows Alice "Ali" Dhawan (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), a teenage girl who suddenly learns she can time travel after falling into a magical pond by her family's home. This leads her on a journey, bringing along her mother Katherine "Kat" Landry (Chyler Leigh) and grandmother Delilah "Del" Landry (Andie MacDowell) to help her learn more about her family's elusive past.

Additionally, when the season 1 finale aired on March 26, Evan Williams penned a heartfelt note about the experience of making The Way Home on Instagram. He also disclosed his gratitude about being able to make season 2 for the viewers.
"Making a TV show takes more than a village, it takes a circus," he wrote in the caption. "This show was aspirational from the start. Everybody involved saw the opening, a chance to do something truly unexpected, the rarest opportunity at this scale; To be part of something that could matter. And we jumped as a team. When is the release date of The Way Home?
Thanks to an Instagram announcement from the show in late November, The Way Home season 2 will air starting Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark. What's more, the show disclosed the premiere date with an exclusive look at what's to come for the Landry family.
"Will the pond provide answers to what really happened to Jacob? Or leave the Landrys with more questions?" the official post read on November 25. "Season 2 of #TheWayHome premieres on Jan 21 at 9/8c starring @chy_leigh, @sadie_snow, #AndieMacDowell, and more! @TheWayHomeHallmarkChannel."
Naturally, people couldn't hold back after learning The Way Home would return for season 2 in just a few weeks' time. "Can’t wait I’m so excited!
