Hallmark Fans Are Stunned After Alison Sweeney Gives ‘Hannah Swensen’ Update

In addition to all of their holiday movies, Hallmark is known for some pretty memorable mystery film franchises, including the Hannah Swensen Mystery series (formerly known as Murder, She Baked).
Over the course of seven years, Alison Sweeney has been portraying the titular role, and last year, viewers got the chance to see Hannah back at her sleuthing with the releases of Carrot Cake Murder (in May 2023) and A Zest for Death (in October 2023). Given how people loved seeing the seventh and eighth installments air essentially back-to-back, folks have been wondering if another Hannah Swensen-centric movie is in the works for 2024.
Well, Alison just dropped an announcement you'll definitely want to know about!
Will there be a new Hannah Swensen Mystery movie in 2024?
In a surprise twist of events, fans will be thrilled to learn that a new Hannah Swensen movie is on the way — and sooner than they would expect! In an exclusive announcement with People on February 29, Alison revealed the next film in the franchise will be called One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. The movie will not only reunite her with her former Days of Our Lives and The Wedding Veil trilogy co-star Victor Webster, it will air on Hallmark Mystery on Friday, April 5 at 9 p.m. ET.
Shortly after sharing the news with the outlet, she went on Instagram to upload a joint post as well. When fans saw the big reveal, they immediately bombarded her with their excitement.
"I love all the movies you make, so keep making them," one person wrote in the comments. "Looking forward to watching you two sizzle! Bring it on!" another added. "Yay!!! They are both great actors!!! Great chemistry!" a different follower replied.
As for what fans may expect from One Bad Apple, an official press release states that the movie follows Hannah after she is asked to teach a baking class at the local college. But just as her equipment gets tampered with and causes an explosion that gets deemed an accident, one of her colleagues is found dead. She ends up being put on the suspect list, all while she tries to figure out the clues as to who actually committed the crime. This also leads her to working with a stickler prosecutor named Chad Norton (played by Victor), who may have more than just the law up his sleeve.
It's also cool to note that One Bad Apple is a special film for Alison. This marks the first time she wrote a script for one of her projects, which she based on the book Apple Turnover Murder by Joanna Fluke (who wrote the series the Hannah Swensen franchise is based on). As she explained to People in the original statement, she teased how special the process of writing the movie was for her.
"I was nervous about writing it, and I had so much fun actually," she said. "I loved it. I hear the voices in my head — and I mean that in a normal, good way. There were just these moments for each character that were so special to me when I was writing it, when I was watching it happen [while filming], I felt like a proud mom standing in the corner, like, 'Oh, there it is! It’s happening!'"
Well, we definitely plan on tuning in for this one!
