Halle Berry’s daughter, 12, is ‘bald in the back’ after actress had to shave her head

Halle Berry is opening up about a hairy situation.

During her appearance on Tuesday’s “Tonight Show” webisode, the “Monster’s Ball” star revealed that she recently had to shave the head of her 12-year-old daughter, Nahla.

“I’m so grateful in these times that we do have a pool, so it’s one of the only ways we get exercise. … So every day we’re swimming, and we get out of the pool. And my daughter’s 12, so when I go to comb her hair, she’s like, ‘No, don’t touch me. I can handle it, I’m a tween. I don’t need you to brush my hair,’” Berry, 53, explained.

But the other night, when something was amiss, Nahla had her mom touch the back of her head.

“All her hair, which is like past her shoulders, has shrunken up into a tight ball that feels like matted fur," Berry said. "Like I can’t even get my finger in it and I’m pulling and … she’s screaming.”

She thought having Nahla shower and condition her hair might do the trick, but that just made it “tighter.”

“I had to shave it off,” the Oscar winner laughed. “She was not cool with that, but it was our only option. But now, like, she gets it. I was like, first of all, maybe you’ll let your mother help you. And second of all, you learned you gotta brush your hair, dog, like every day. … She’s bald in the back.”
