Hales Corners won't have a famers market this year, after its return last year after decade break

The Hales Corners farmers market will not return this year, organizers announced Tuesday.

The Hales Corners Village Market Facebook page announced in a post that it was unable to get enough vendors.

"Unfortunately, we were unable to recruit enough vendors in time to be able to sustain a market season," its post said. "We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this causes. Thank you for your understanding. Again, we offer our sincerest apologies."

The market had returned last year after a long absence.

The farmers market had been gone in Hales Corners for some time

Hales Corners Village President Dan Besson previously told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last year that Hales Corners had not had a famers market for about 10 years.

Last year, the village market was held on Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. from June 14 to Oct. 18. The farmers market took place at Hales Corners Park, located at 5765 S. New Berlin Road.

Besson said the Hales Corners village board was very enthusiastic about the revival of the farmers market, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. They were hopeful to have at least 20 vendors for the market; four were already confirmed by January.

Hales Corners wanted the farmers market to focus on locally produced items.

It is unknown how many vendors signed up for this year's farmers market.
