Hagerstown pools open for Memorial Day weekend, plus summer hours and more

Claude M. Potterfield Pool, 730 Frederick St., Hagerstown

  • Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26 — open 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 — open 2:30 to 6 p.m.

  • Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2 — open 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Regular hours Friday, June 7, through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2 (new extended hours on Wednesday evenings begins June 12) — 12:30 to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 12:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays; and 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Features a children’s splash pad, double tube slides and large water slide

  • Managed by the Hagerstown YMCA

  • Daily rates — $5 ages 15 to 61; $4 ages 5 to 14, and ages 62 and older; $3 ages 3 to 4; free ages 2 and younger

  • Season passes available — $85 individual ($110 non-city resident), $160 family ($210 non-city residents)

  • Children younger than 15 must be accompanied by a guardian, who is 18 or older

  • Pool fitness programs — Aqua Yoga on Tuesdays from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.; and Aqua Zumba on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m.; register or drop in.

  • Pool available for two or three-hour private party rentals — Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; reservation required, call the Hagerstown YMCA at 301-739-3990 ext. 4221

  • Food and drink — Patrons can bring personal coolers with food, snacks and refreshments, as the regular concession stand will not be open this season; no glass allowed. A food vendor available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 3 to 8 p.m. The pool now offers two vending machines with drinks and snacks.

  • Special event on Friday, June 28 — an evening swim and the movie “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem” (rated PG) at dusk. Regular admission rates.

Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park pool, 17901 Halfway Blvd., Hagerstown

  • Saturdays and Sundays, starting Saturday, May 25, — open noon to 6 p.m.

  • Regular hours begin Monday, June 10 — 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Amenities — diving board, two water slides, ADA accessible lift, ADA accessible steps into pool and walk-in kiddie pool

  • Fees (cash only) — $5 adults; $4 kindergarteners through 12th graders and senior citizens; $3 pre-kindergarteners; $1 all ages after 5 p.m.

  • Season passes — $110 individual adult; $85 individual child; $175 family

  • Pool socials, reservations required — select evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. $225 for up to 75 swimmers, $300 for 76 to 150 swimmers. Payment due at the time of reservation. Call 240-313-2700.
