'Hadestown' anchors this year's Broadway in Evansville lineup

Old National Events Plaza officials on Monday announced the lineup for the 2024-2025 Broadway in Evansville season. The slate features four musicals.

A four-show "subscription" to the series starts at $145 and will be available starting July 26.

Old National Events Plaza officials said on-sale dates for individual tickets will be announced at a future date.

Here's a look at the shows and their scheduled dates in Evansville.

'Shrek the Musical,' Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m.

The green ogre and his smartaleck donkey sidekick take to the stage in this adaptation of the Oscar-winning Dreamworks film.

Here's how promoters describe the show: "With all-new original direction and choreography by Danny Mefford (choreographer, Dear Evan Hansen) filled with lush orchestrations, this reimagined production brings the show back to its roots – giving it a new kind of love emphasizing the importance of loving ourselves and one another."

'Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,' Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m.

Known as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll," Tina Turner captivated fans for decades, living a life marked by both musical greatness and personal trauma.

Here's how promoters describe the show: "Set to the pulse-pounding soundtrack of her most beloved hits, this electrifying sensation will send you soaring to the rafters. One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Tina Turner won 12 Grammy Awards and her live shows were seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history."

'Pretty Woman: The Musical,' Jan. 22, 7:30 p.m.

This musical is based on the 1980s romantic film that starred Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

Here's how promoters describe the show: "Based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, (the show) springs to life with a powerhouse creative team led by two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton."

'Hadestown,' Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m.

This show is a "sung-through" musical written by Anaïs Mitchell. It's a tale based on the Greek mythology love story between Orpheus and Eurydice. It also delves into the relationship between King Hades and Queen Persephone.

Here's how promoters describe the show: "Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today and always.
