H.S. Softball/Baseball: Hoffman hits for cycle for Hazleton Area softball
Apr. 25—Marissa Hoffman hit for the cycle and drove in eight runs as Hazleton Area outslugged Dallas 20-13 Thursday in Wyoming Valley Conference softball.
Hoffman was 5-for-5 with a homer, triple, two doubles and a single. Olivia Williams tripled and had two RBI. Kayla Lagowy and Mackenzie Major each had two RBI as the Cougars finished with 20 hits. Lagowy was 5-for-6 and scored six times.
Carolyn Comitz and Jade Smith each had a double and three RBI for Dallas.
Wyo. Valley West 7, Crestwood 6
Brooke Long was 3-for-3 with three RBI as Wyoming Valley West held off Crestwood.
Abigail Yenalevitch was 2-for-3 with double and two RBI and was also the winning pitcher. Madison Ostroski had a triple and Isabella Seip doubled.
Celia Stahlnecker had a triple and two RBI for Crestwood. Alex Toniatti and Allison Babula each had a double.
Tunkhannock 13, Wilkes-Barre Area 2
The Tigers scored seven times in the sixth inning to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Winning pitcher McKenzie Hannon helped her own cause with a homer, double and four RBI. Elaina Kulsicavage had three RBI. Kayden Bamberger, Erin Van Ness and Allison Kinney all hit triples.
Jordan Prushinski doubled and Kayce Martin had an RBI for Wilkes-Barre Area.
Northwest 18, Benton 0
Addisyn Diltz had four RBI as Northwest defeated Benton in three innings.
Jordin Bowman, Ava Ruckle and Jenna Robaczewski all had three RBI.
BASEBALL
Hazleton Area 23, Wyoming Valley West 0
Hazleton Area scored 10 runs in the first inning and then added 11 more in the fifth to end the game by the 10-run rule.
Shea Higgins and Jose Soquiel had three RBI each for Hazleton Area. Jonas Aponick pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and allowing two hits.
Wyoming Area 6, Wyoming Seminary 3
David Fath drove in two runs and Matt Rusinchak pitched 6.2 innings for the win as Wyoming Area defeated Wyoming Seminary.
Alex Vacula had a double and single to account for two of Wyoming Area's six hits.
Leo Nockley was 3-for-4 with a double for Seminary. Ryan Finley had a double.
Holy Redeemer 15, Hanover Area 0
Alex Gordon, Luke Hendrzak and Luke Kopec all had three RBI as Holy Redeemer won in four innings.
Garrett Yakimowicz pitched a complete-game two-hitter.
