Who is the H.S. Athlete of the Week for April 29-May 5?

Another week of the spring high school sports season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.

Last week, Taunton softball earned a pair of key wins over fellow Division 1 Top 10 opponents while Bristol-Plymouth and Dighton-Rehoboth softball continued to swing hot bats and Bristol-Plymouth boys lacrosse exacted its revenge on rivals Blue Hills. Taunton baseball scored a comeback win over Shrewsbury while a Bridgewater-Raynham boys lacrosse player hit a career milestone, Dighton-Rehoboth boys volleyball earned its first tournament berth in 20 years and all four local track teams had some strong showings over the weekend.

The Taunton Daily Gazette Athlete of the Week for April 22-28 is the Bridgewater-Raynham boys track and field 4x800 meter relay team of Riley Frisch, Dan Leet, Cole Bridges and Ryan Hall, receiving 27% of the vote. Bristol-Plymouth softball's Isabella Torres came in second with 17% of the vote while Dighton-Rehoboth softball's Lucy Latour received 17% to finish third, trailing Torres by only three votes.

Cam Tomaszycki, Taunton

Tomaszycki earned the win after going two shutout innings in relief striking out a pair and hit an RBI single for the go ahead run against Shrewsbury.

Tyler Cattoggio, Bridgewater-Raynham

Cattoggio went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and four RBIs off a pair of home runs against New Bedford.

Brayden Alves, Bristol-Plymouth

Alves went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while also earning the win after going all seven innings giving up four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four against Malden Catholic.

Will LaBrie, Dighton-Rehoboth

LaBrie went all six innings giving up an unearned run on four hits and three walks while striking out four against Somerset Berkley.

Softball

Aniyah Bailey, Taunton

Bailey went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs against Oliver Ames.

Taylor Reid, Bridgewater-Raynham

Reid went 2-for-3 with three runs against Braintree.

Bree Aldrich, Bristol-Plymouth

Aldrich went 2-for-4 with a home run, four runs and three RBIs against Westport.

Cam Cloonan, Dighton-Rehoboth

Cloonan went 3-for-4 with a home run, four runs and three RBIs against Greater New Bedford.

Boys Lacrosse

Jose Touron, Taunton

Touron had a hat trick and an assist against Norton.

Shaun LaCivita, Bridgewater-Raynham

LaCivita made 23 saves against Nauset.

James Dolan, Bristol-Plymouth

Dolan had five goals and an assist against Blue Hills.

Jack Swan, Dighton-Rehoboth

Swan had six goals, three assists and seven ground balls against Greater New Bedford.

Girls Lacrosse

Maddi Szala, Taunton

Szala had five goals and three assists against North Attleboro.

Emily Keefe, Bridgewater-Raynham

Keefe had four goals and an assist against Nantucket.

Emma Ericson, Bristol-Plymouth

Ericson had seven goals, three assists and three draws against Bristol Aggie.

Karina Bosco, Dighton-Rehoboth

Bosco had six goals, three assists and nine draws against Greater New Bedford.

Boys Tennis

David Anghinetti, Dighton-Rehoboth

Anghinetti won first singles 6-0, 6-0 against Wareham.

Girls Tennis

Ava Alves, Taunton

Alves won third singles 6-0, 6-0 against Oliver Ames.

Nicole Kimball, Bridgewater-Raynham

Kimball won first singles 6-1, 6-0 against Falmouth.

Boys Track and Field

Dmitrius Shearrion, Taunton

Shearrion won both the 100 meter (0:10.6) and 400 meter (0:50.4, personal best) against North Attleboro.

Joey Brand, Bridgewater-Raynham

Brand won the two mile with a personal best time of 10:19.41 at the 14th Annual Greater New Bedford Sunset Invitational.

Ethan Maloney, Bristol-Plymouth

Maloney finished 21st in the javelin with a throw of 103'0.5" at the MSTCA Lou Tozzi Freshman-Sophomore Twilight Invitational.

Mason Morgado, Dighton-Rehoboth

Morgado finished second in the two mile with a personal best time of 10:26.82 at the 14th Annual Greater New Bedford Sunset Invitational.

Girls Track and Field

Sophia Olaniyan, Taunton

Olaniyan won the discuss with a personal best throw of 122' and finished eighth in the shot put with a top throw of 27'6.75" at the MSTCA Lou Tozzi Freshman-Sophomore Twilight Invitational.

Brenna Woodbury, Bridgewater-Raynham

Woodbury won the 800 meter with a personal best time of 2:22.46 at the 14th Annual Greater New Bedford Sunset Invitational.

Zoey Onuegbu, Bristol-Plymouth

Onuegbu finished third in the 200 meter (0:27.31, personal best), fifth in the 100 meter (0:13.37) and 22nd in the long jump (13'9") at the MSTCA Lou Tozzi Freshman-Sophomore Twilight Invitational.

Mari Lavigne, Dighton-Rehoboth

Lavigne finished second in the javelin with a personal best throw of 112'8" at the 14th Annual Greater New Bedford Sunset Invitational.

Boys Volleyball

Daniel Freitas, Taunton

Freitas had 27 assists against Durfee.

Yasiel Rodriguez, Dighton-Rehoboth

Rodriguez had 35 assists against Bellingham.
