Gwen Stefani Looks Nearly Unrecognizable As 'Corpse Bride'

Gwen Stefani

While many know Gwen Stefani for her singing voice and style, the star has a major talent for makeup, and she showed off her skills this Halloween.

Stefani shared a video of her 2023 Halloween costume on Instagram, with the "Don't Speak" singer looking almost unrecognizable as the titular character from the 2005 film Corpse Bride, blue skin, hair and all. "so spooooky !! gx🕷️ 👻makeup by me:)," she wrote in the caption, with the clip showing Stefani perfectly emulating the sad expression that the character wears.

The 54-year-old created the melancholic face by emphasizing her eyes to make them look bigger and drawing her eyebrows to curve up in the center. Of course, Stefani also had the right outfit as well, with a lacy white dress, flower crown veil and other accessories.

Fans complimented Stefani on her makeup skills and amazing costume, with comments like, "SLAY HALLOWEEN QUEEN 💙🩵," "Scary to think you did this amazing look 😍😍😍😍😍😍," and "You are even beautiful when you are spooky 👻 👻👻👻 love this and You!!!"

Celebrity makeup artists Anthony H. Nguyen and Michael Anthony also cheered on the singer and commended her talent, writing, "Amaaaaazing @gwenstefani !!! And the makeup?!? 😮‍💨👏🏼🩵🎃🦇" and "WOWOWOW! You’re sooo incredible Gwen!! This is spooktacular !!" respectively.

In the film Corpse Bride, which was directed by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson, Helena Bonham Carter plays Stefani's character, whose real name is Emily. The cast also includes Johnny Depp, Emily Watson, Richard E. Grant and more.

Stefani tends to go all out for Halloween every year, and last year she shared a clip showing off a bunch of costumes, including Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and an elegant ballerina. Her husband, Blake Shelton, also made an appearance in the clip.
