Gunfire incident reported in Peoria neighborhood hours after teen's fatal shooting

Peoria police are investigating a shooting incident Tuesday night in the East Bluff in which at least ten rounds were fired just hours after a fatal shooting of a teenager nearby.

The Peoria Police Department said that at 10:08 p.m., they received a ShotSpotter alert of 10 rounds fired in the 400 block of East Republic Street. Officers on the scene weren't able to locate any victims right away, although they did find several shell casings a few blocks down on East Frye Avenue.

While an investigation began into the shooting, they received word from eyewitnesses that one person had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle, allegedly with gunshot wounds. Police found the vehicle carrying the victim had been shot at during the incident.
