Gulliver swimming second at state. True North football wins. Plus gymnastics, hoops and soccer

The Gulliver Prep girls had the best finish of any South Florida team as they placed second with 254 points at the FHSAA Class 2A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Stuart.

Tampa Academy of the Holy Names took home the team title with 352 points.

The Raiders were led by their 200 medley relay squad (Giovanna Musiello, Elyse Wood, Reese Rosenthal and Cassandra Kraft), who collectively swam a winning time of 1 minute and 46.05 seconds.

Pompano Beach led all South Florida teams on the boys’ side with a third-place finish (122 points). Jacksonville-Bishop Kenny won that team title with 295.5 points.

Football playoffs

The True North football team avenged a regular season loss by beating Westminster Christian 41-20 in a Class 1M Region 4 semifinal.

The Titans lost by 12 points to Westminster Christian in Week 3 of the regular season. They beat them by 21 in the region semifinal while holding the Warriors scoreless in the fouth quarter.

True North (8-3) hosts Palmer Trinity for the region title at 3 p.m. Friday at Tropical Park.

Rowing

The Miami Rowing Club women’s team was second in Chattanooga, Tennessee at a Head of the Hooch, which is the second largest regatta in the world. The locals medaled in several races during this event.

Varsity girls 4+ lightweight (coxswain Kristina Multach, Karina Leon, Margaux Sproul, Sabrina Rule, Ines Kossick) placed second for silver. Varsity girls quad (Fabi Audesio, Margaux Sproul, Kate Seabrook and Olivia Guevara) finished third for bronze.

Gymnastics

Haylen Zabrowski, a gymnast and scholar at Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, signed with the University of Michigan gymnastics team. She trains at and competes for the prestigious American Twisters Gymnastics in Coconut Creek.

Soccer

GIRLS: American Heritage-Plantation 4, Venice 1: Dori Johnson 1 goal, Nyema Freeman 1 goal; Sami Villaverde 1 goal, 2 assists; Lilly Sargent Burns 1 goal. AH (2-1-1).
