A Guernsey school is set to celebrate 50 years of education.

The States of Guernsey said La Mare de Carteret primary and high school opened in 1974 and has been "educating the children of the island ever since".

A number of events will take place, including an open day on 10 May to showcase items from its history.

Alison Elliott, primary school head teacher, has asked past pupils and staff for items.

She said: "As well as an opportunity to find out more about the life of the school in 2024, one of the things I'm most excited about is our La Mare de Carteret museum exhibition, which we will be putting on in the school hall.

"We have a number of items key to the school's past to display including diaries, log books and photographs, but we're also asking anyone who may have something worth adding to the exhibition to get in touch."

The exhibition for members of the public will take place between 09:00-11:00 BST.
