Guernsey Airport was forced to temporarily close its runway after a flight from Alderney lost its hydraulic systems while landing, Guernsey Ports has said.

The crew of the Dornier aircraft could not brake or steer the plane due to the failure at about 08:10 BST, meaning it was unable to clear the runway.

The plane was towed out of the way at about 08:40 BST, with the airport reopened 10 minutes later.

No injuries on the plane which carrying 17 passengers have been reported.
