GSP: School bus struck a tree, toppled over Tuesday morning in north Georgia

As early effects of severe weather were beginning throughout the state on Tuesday, a Bartow County school bus struck a tree and flipped over onto the side of the road on Cass-Pine Log Road early Tuesday in Cartersville, according to Sgt. Stephen Langham of the Georgia State Patrol.

"We don't know if the bus flipped on the top or the side of the bus," Langham said.

Only the bus driver was present on the bus, so no children or passengers sustained injuries, according to a spokesperson at the Bartow County Road Department. The driver did not sustain injuries that required medical assistance.

A request for comment from the Bartow County school districted has not been returned as of 3 p.m.
