Greg Cote Show podcast: Jessica Smetana lists her top 5 musicals and it takes a shockingly dark turn

The Greg Cote Show podcast

The latest episode of The Greg Cote Show podcast, out now, is a rare foray for the show as we delve into the world of theater -- musicals in particular. And so what better guest to welcome in than Jessica Smetana!

Jess, renowned member of the Shipping Container from the Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz, also is a fan of musicals and a musical fan, as you will hear. She reveals her all-time top five musicals -- a list that takes a shockingly dark turn, by the way. We might even hear her croon a show tune or two.

It’s a fun convo that also includes a discussion of Abba, an appreciation of the accordion, and Jess’ thoughts on surprise parties as Greg and Chris discuss Greg’s Herculean effort to surprise his un-surprisable wife with a surprise dinner party at a local Italian restaurant. (Later the guys review how the party went...)

Also, Chris discusses singing in a school choir, and Jess shares her one and only experience in school theater.

This is our 36th episode of 2022 and 127th overall and we welcome you back as always!

Also in the new episode:

Greg revisits the recent Charles Bricker stunt on the Le Batard Show, when Greg was duped into thinking he was speaking with an old journalism rival from the early ‘90s, who actually was portrayed by film director, producer screenwriter and comedian Adam McKay. McKay was brilliant. Unfortunately his schtick included a reference to Bricker having made a failed suicide attempt. Greg reacts with sympathy (thinking he was speaking with someone whose attempt was real) and explains that involving suicide in a comedy bit was regrettable.

The guys discuss Deshaun Watson’s increased NFL suspension, and the unholy mess he created for himself.

Plus: Dippity-Do talk; the USA Mullet Championships; Greg acknowledges being duped by a quote from Antonio Brown; an update on the change.org petition drive to rename Mount Rushmore as Mount Gregmore; and the Dad Joke of the Week.
