Green Wave dominate Blue Devils in second half

Dec. 2—The first half of Tuesday's Gallatin-Lebanon boys' game appeared to be one worthy of the timeless rivalry.

But after a deadlocked first quarter and a five-point Gallatin lead at halftime, the Green Wave dominated the Blue Devils in the second half, holding Lebanon to 12 points after halftime of a 67-32 thumping at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court.

Lebanon led 4-0 before Gallatin scored the next six points. It was back and forth until the Blue Devils pulled into an 8-8 tie at the first-quarter break.

It remained close with Lebanon leading 12-8 and 19-18 with 3:30 to play in the first half on a free throw by Amaure' Manier. But Gallatin went on a 7-1 run to end the quarter with a 25-20 lead.

Lebanon never answered with a second-half run as Gallatin opened a 43-24 lead broken only by two Brody Reasonover free throws in the final seconds of the third quarter.

One of four Green Wave players in double figures, R.J. Crenshaw led Gallatin with 14 points while Trevarius Reed threw in 13 as each hit a pair of 3-pointers. Big man Logan Hesson had 12 points and veteran De'Costa Ricks 11 as the visitors moved to 3-2 for the season.

Point guard Avery Harris had eight of his 10 points in the first half for Lebanon while Marques Anglin scored six, Manier five, Brice Njezic a 3 and Reasonover, Marcus White, T.J. Searcy and Dekevion Bass two each as the Blue Devils dropped to 3-4.

Lebanon hosted Mt. Juliet last night and will entertain Blackman on Tuesday night.

Wildcats succumb to Bond's Bruins

BRENTWOOD — Brentwood, led by former Wilson Central coaches Troy Bond and Troy Crane, broke to a big early lead over the Wildcats and rolled to a 74-41 win Tuesday night.

The Bruins led 15-4 at the first-quarter break, 32-13 at halftime and 49-27 going into the fourth.

Ike Boone buried a pair of 3-pointers as he and JaMichael Mitchell each threw in 13 points for Wilson Central. Jordan Lawson scored six points while Noah McBride, Brody Fly, Braden Neal and Towan Siler each supplied two and Eli Hawkins a free throw.

Wilson Central traveled to Green Hill last night. The Wildcats will host Trousdale County on Tuesday.

Hendersonville hands Friendship first loss

Class 4A Hendersonville came to Friendship Christian's Bay Family Sportsplex on Tuesday night and handed former Commando Jeff Long's Commanders their first loss of the season 58-55.

Colby Jones knocked down 19 points, Miles Fitzpatrick 16 and Noah Major 15 for Friendship, which fell to 4-1.

Friendship's scheduled game Thursday night with Portland was canceled due to the football Commanders playing in the BlueCross Bowl in Chattanooga. Long said the Panthers were unable to reschedule the contest.

The Commanders' next game will be next Tuesday at Goodpasture in the District 4-IIA opener.

Riverdale rolls past Mt. Juliet

MURFREESBORO — Host Riverdale pulled away from Mt. Juliet in the second quarter of a 65-41 win Tuesday night at Johnny Parsley Memorial Gym.

The Warriors widened a 17-13 first-quarter lead to 36-16 by halftime and 56-24 going into the fourth.

Rashad Mitchell threw in two 3-pointers during eight-point second quarter as he led Riverdale with 12 points while E.J. Turner added 11, also with a pair of 3s.

Mt. Juliet's Ashton Kirkendoll led all scorers with 14 points while Johnny Pfefferle finished with nine, Sam Gravely eight after halftime (six in the fourth), Garner Pfeiffer five in the first quarter, Braxton Corey and M.J. Maercker two free throws apiece and Korajo Dickens one foul shot as the Golden Bears fell to 1-4.

The Golden Bears played at Lebanon last night and will host Siegel on Tuesday.

Short-handed Hawks fall to Oakland despite Ellis' 32 points

MURFREESBORO — Oakland's boys defeated a depleted Green Hill team 64-54 Tuesday night at Randy King Gym.

Four names were scratched from Green Hill's scorebook, including Antjuan Welch. Kenny Ellis' 32 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers during 12-point second quarter, were enough to save the Hawks from their first loss of the season after four wins.

Oakland led 14-6 at the first-quarter break. Ellis' big second quarter helped draw Green Hill to within 25-22 by halftime. But the Patriots pulled back out to a 47-36 margin going into the fourth.

Bryant Haggard had 19 points, Avery Carter 14 and Isaiah Verge 11, including two triples during a nine-point third quarter, for the Patriots.

Rex Harmon had seven points for the Hawks while Tanner Bolton and Aaron Mattingly each finished with four, Nik Ware a 3 and Christian Bright and Nick Owens two apiece.

Green Hill hosted Wilson Central last night. The Hawks will travel to Cookeville on Monday.
