Gravesend choir to perform during London Marathon
A Kent choir will be performing at the London Marathon.
The Singing Striders, based in Gravesend, is an all ability vocal group for people who love to run and sing – but not at the same time.
The group will be performing running-themed songs as part of a “cheer squad” for the disability charity Scope at Sunday’s event.
The Singing Striders founder Janet Murray, who has completed the marathon three times, said she hoped the music would help runners push through their pain.
“While I loved every minute of my London Marathon running experiences, I know how tough it can be and how uplifting it is to hear live music - particularly in the difficult moments, when you have to dig deep,” she said.
“And that is why we're so excited to be supporting runners by singing at this year's London Marathon."
The choir's set list will include covers of 500 Miles by The Proclaimers, Don't Stop Me Now by Queen and Keep on Running by The Spencer Davis Group.
Ms Murray is also an England Athletics qualified run leader and supports programmes for Gravesham Community Runners and Sunday Active in Ebbsfleet.
