Grapevine boys beat Heritage, Carroll star hits 2,000 and more from the Fort Worth-area

Boys

Grapevine 59, Colleyville Heritage 53

David Coe dropped a game-high 17 points as the Mustangs had a strong second half to beat their rival Panthers in District 7-5A.

Heritage led 14-13 after the first quarter and 28-26 at intermission.

However, Grapevine outscored the Panthers 33-25 in the second half.

TJ Gigowski added 13 points for the Mustangs. Armon Almuttar had 10 points and Matthew Woodcock chipped in nine.

Arlington Martin 73, Arlington 54

Jeremiah Charles scored 22 points and the Warriors won their fourth straight game and stayed perfect in District 8-6A.

Martin improves to 22-3 overall.

The Warriors are No. 3 in the TABC Class 6A state rankings and No. 1 in the Fort Worth area.

Will Warren and Cody Stevens added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Burleson Centennial 56, Midlothian Heritage 49

The Spartans beat the Jaguars to win their 11th straight game and improved to 8-1 in District 8-5A.

Heritage led 25-24 at halftime, but Centennial came out with an 18-11 edge in the third quarter.

Centennial hung on late in the fourth.

Abram Hicks had a team-high 12 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Ty’Jae Minter, Iverson Moore and Zachary Brooks scored eight points apiece.

Kendall Lawrence and Zach Diaz chipped in seven and six points, respectively.

Arlington Seguin 65, Joshua 48

The Cougars used a strong second quarter to turn back the Owls in District 8-5A. Seguin moved to 0.500 on the season and 5-4 in district play.

Joshua ended the first quarter strong and led 20-19, but Seguin would get a 3-point play from Quinton Ray and a layup from Ty Boston to go up 27-25 midway through the second.

Mike Oguntoke hit a three and the lead upped to 37-25. Seguin took a 42-30 lead into half after a three from Andrew Huntley.

The Owls ended the first half with a three and opened the third with the first nine points to pull within 42-36. Ray picked up a steal and found Makean Hastings for a layup.

Seguin led by eight after Joshua’s Aiden Raccuglia hit a three with 5:41 left to play. Oguntoke got a rebound and went the length of the court to score and push the lead back to 10.

Newly Army commit Camryn Tade scored 20 points and surpassed 2,000 in her career as the Dragons beat the Falcons in District 4-6A.

Caitlin Slowik added 15 points for Carroll and Natalia Jordan chipped in 13.

Carroll stayed undefeated in district and went to 22-3 overall. The Dragons have won 14 games in a row.

Carroll led 22-4 after the first quarter and 46-5 at halftime.

Joshua 53, Arlington Seguin 31

Peyton Cole finished with 16 points, three rebounds, seven steals and five assists as the Owls defeated the Cougars in District 8-5A.

Cole got a steal and layup and then converted a Calley Liles’ assist as Joshua got out to an 8-0 lead. Olivia Haten had a nice pass down low for an Azariah Polk layup and Liles hit a three to extend the Owls’ lead.

Cole got another steal and Kiara Lackey scored as Joshua led 15-4 after the first quarter.

Jasmine Robinson hit a jump shot for Seguin, but the Cougars trailed 27-11 at intermission.

Asia Johnson had back-to-back steals to open the third for Seguin before Kallie Connelly hit a three for the Owls. Amya Spirling hit a corner three to get the Cougars within 32-21 in the third.

Joshua scored eight straight after Lackey hit Connelly for a layup. Liles and Tyler Pool hit threes in the fourth for Joshua.

Liles and Lackey each had eight points.

Johnson led Seguin with 12 of her 14 coming in the second half.

FW Dunbar 74, FW Western Hills 30

Three Wildcats scored at least 16 points as Dunbar defeated the Cougars in District 9-4A.

Tomi Graves had a game-high 24 points. Jordan McIntosh added 18 and Dallas Henry chipped in 16.

LD Bell 48, FW Paschal 27

The Blue Raiders outscored the Panthers in every quarter and Bell held Paschal to single digits in the first three quarters during a District 3-6A win.

Bell improved to 16-12 overall and 5-3 in district.

The Raiders led 13-7 after the first quarter and then held the Panthers to six in the second and four in the third.

Katie Tietjen led all scorers with 16 points.

Gracie Oma added 10 for Bell and Leah Andrews added nine.
