The Charlotte Hornets announced some unfortunate injury news in regards to All-Star forward Gordon Hayward Sunday.

Per the team, Hayward will be out indefinitely with “continued discomfort” in his left foot. The foot will be placed in a cast to immobilize it, and Hayward will be re-evaluated by team doctors in about two weeks.

Hayward’s enjoyed a pretty nice second season in Charlotte outside of time missed due to injury. On the year, the 32-year-old veteran is averaging 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game across his 48 starts.

NBA Twitter reacted to Hayward’s injury news shortly after it came down.

“Season over,” one user commented.

“Feel bad for whoever has to deal with this dude next year,” a Hornets fan said.

“Again?!?!” asked another fan. “Get rid of him.”

“Yeah they done for,” said another after Gordon Hayward’s injury. “Not worried about that play in game in the slightest.”

“Unfortunate stuff for Hayward again,” tweeted The Baseline.

“The Atlanta Hawks are going to the playoffs.”

“[Pacers] want a good serviceable scorer?” asked another Buzz City fan.

Gordon Hayward’s absence makes it tougher on the young Hornets as they enter the play-in. Hopefully his return is closer to the two week diagnosis than anything.
