Say goodbye to Parasson's in Stow and Barberton; Akron location will carry on

Parasson's Italian Restaurant is closing its Barberton and Stow locations, narrowing down to just one point of service after operating as a local chain of four in its prime.

The Akron location on East Waterloo Road will continue, and it's reopening its dining room June 3, according to a message from the restaurant management on its website.

The Stow location on Darrow Road closed last Saturday, and the Barberton location at 234 Wooster Road will follow suit this Saturday.

Tony Parasson, president and son of the late founder, said on the restaurant's website that the move was being made "to simplify and streamline operations and to improve efficiency."

"We are consolidating our restaurants into a single location," Parasson said. "This will better enable us to continue to provide the excellent homemade food, service, cleanliness and value that our customers have come to expect since our founding in 1960. Our Akron location was chosen because it is centrally located between Barberton and Stow and has always been our busiest location."

Employees at the Barberton and Stow locations have been offered jobs at the Akron restaurant, Parasson said.

The restaurants have been open for carryout and delivery only since summer 2021. According to a June 4, 2021 social media post, Parasson's was unable to open its dining rooms "due to an industry-wide labor shortage."

There also had been a Parasson's in Akron's North Hill area on North Main Street, which closed in 2017. Lyeh Thai Food now operates at that location.

The Akron restaurant is at 959 E. Waterloo Road and is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For details, visit parassons.com.
