Golf fans are itching for a Bryson DeChambeauBrooks Koepka pairing at the U.S. Open later this month. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like that will happen.

According to a report from Brad Faxon, the U.S. Golf Association reached out to DeChambeau about a pairing with Koepka at the U.S. Open. DeChambeau reportedly told the USGA that he is not interested in playing alongside Koepka.

“The USGA did call Bryson DeChambeau and his agent and asked them if he would be OK with that, and Bryson declined,” Faxon reports.

That’s obviously very disappointing news if true.

While it’s clear that DeChambeau and Koepka do not like each other, their rivalry is good for the game. Seeing them play alongside each other at the U.S. Open would’ve been incredibly entertaining.

Golf fans are understandably disappointed by the news.

Many are wondering why the USGA even gave DeChambeau a choice.

“I don’t care if Bryson does not want to play with Brooks, he shouldn’t have any input whatsoever on pairings, nor should any player on tour for that matter,” one fan tweeted.

“I can’t believe the USGA is even asking him. What did they think he was going to say? We’ve already seen how fans calling him “brooksy” gets under his skin,” another fan wrote.

“Embarrassing. Also why would they ask? Just do it, what’s he going to do never play a US Open again??” one fan added.

The 2021 U.S. Open is scheduled to begin on Thursday from Torrey Pines. Hopefully we’ll get a DeChambeau-Koepka pairing on Saturday or Sunday.
