Golf World Reacts To The Bryson DeChambeau News
Most of the golf world has not expressed very much excitement about the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, which are fully underway this weekend.
“I don’t know if there’s much to look forward to,” Rory McIlroy recently said about the Olympics, via Brendan Porath of Golf Digest. “It’s obviously going to be a very different environment. Looking forward to getting another week’s golf in and trying to get my game in shape. As I said, there’s not much else to do there.
“… I’m not a very patriotic guy. I’m doing it because I think it’s the right thing to do.”
The golf field at the Summer Olympics has already taken a tough hit, too. United States golfer Bryson DeChambeau will be unable to play at the Olympics after testing positive.
DeChambeau will reportedly be replaced by Patrick Reed.
Bryson DeChambeau tested positive for COVID-19 and will not compete in the Tokyo Olympics, USA Golf announced.
Patrick Reed will replace DeChambeau on the roster.

Here’s how some golf fans are reacting to the news.
First of all, it’s sad and scary any time anyone catches this virus. Secondly, it would have been fascinating to see Bryson in this setting. Reed’s game (especially putter) is in much better shape now, and I’m sure he’s thrilled, but a tough blow for BDC https://t.co/DkQv1DimGz

Somehow the US golf team got more unpleasant. I didn’t think that was possible. https://t.co/at5E2BCQgf

DeChambeau isn’t the only notable golfer forced to withdraw from the Summer Olympics.
Jon Rahm, who tested positive earlier this year, missing the final round of The Memorial, will also withdraw from the Summer Games.
Jon Rahm has also tested positive for COVID-19 and is unable to compete for Spain in the Olympics. https://t.co/EY8u353QNQ
