Golf betting: Sahith Theegala is bettors' pick ahead of 3M Open

Is the 3M Open the site of Sahith Theegala’s first PGA Tour win?

Theegala has come close to winning multiple times in 2022 but is still looking for his first victory. And bettors at BetMGM like his chances of a win. Theegala (+2500) is getting almost 10% of tickets at the sportsbook and nearly 13% of the money bet on the tournament. No other golfer in the field is getting more bets or more money.

Theegala had the lead after the third round of the WM Phoenix Open before finishing in a tie for third. He tied for fifth at the Memorial to start June and then was a putt away from a playoff when he finished in a tie for second at the Travelers Championship. Theegala made his first major start of the season at the British Open a week ago and finished in a tie for 34th at 7-under.

The 3M Open is a wide-open tournament. Just two of the top 20 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings are in the field. No. 17 Tony Finau is the favorite at +1400 to win and No. 14 Hideki Matsuyama is the No. 2 favorite at +1600.

Matsuyama has the same odds as Sungjae Im, the No. 3 golfer in the field in the OWGR. Im is at No. 24 in the rankings. Theegala is tied with Adam Hadwin, Cam Davis and Davis Riley as the No. 4 favorite. Riley is getting the second-most bets and money of any golfer while Finau ranks third on both lists.

Finau is +140 to finish in the top 10 while Matsuyama is at +150. Finau is +1000 to be the top American ahead of Riley at +1400 and McNealy and Theegala at +1600. Matsuyama and Im are each at +200 to be the top Asian golfer in the tournament.
