Golf betting: Masters champ Scottie Scheffler is the AT&T Byron Nelson favorite

Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win in his home state.

The Masters champion is at +1000 to win the AT&T Byron Nelson this weekend at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The Byron Nelson is the last tournament before the PGA Championship next weekend. The PGA at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa is the second major of the season.

Scheffler is the No. 1-ranked player in the world and is the second-most bet player to win at BetMGM with 8.2% of wagers and 11.1% of the money wagered. The most popular bet is another Texas native. Will Zalatoris is getting just over 10% of tickets and nearly 15% of the money. As a result of that action, Zalatoris has gone from +2500 to +2200.

Justin Thomas is the No. 2 favorite at +1200 while Sam Burns is at +2000. Zalatoris is tied with stars Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele at +2200 while 2021 Masters champ Hideki Matsuyama is at +2500.

Spieth is the third-most bet player at 7.1% of tickets and Thomas is getting the third-most money at 7.3%. Thomas is getting 5% of bets.

Scheffler is at +200 to get a top five and +110 to finish in the top 10 this weekend. Scheffler is making his first individual start since he won the Masters in April and is going for his fourth win in his last six individual starts after winning the WM Phoenix Open in February and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. His only post-Masters tournament so far was when he teamed with Ryan Palmer at the Zurich Classic.

Thomas is at +250 to finish in the top five and +130 to get a top-10 finish. Spieth is the No. 3 favorite to finish in the top 10 at +200 along with Burns and Schauffele. Johnson is +400 to get a top-five finish and +220 to finish in the top 10.

Tommy Fleetwood is the favorite to be the top-finishing English player at +225 and top European at +500. Matsuyama is the favorite to be the top finishing player from outside the United States and Europe at +650.
