Goldendoodle's Jealousy Over Grandparents Kissing Is Too Cute to Resist

Dogs can be a little territorial. They love their humans and will sometimes do some pretty goofy things to let it be known. Two people learned this the hard way when they tried to make their Goldendoodle grandson "jealous" and got a really unpleasant surprise.

The dog's owner @shylahmay caught the whole thing on camera, which is good because otherwise we're not sure we'd believe what happened.

The video shows the Goldendoodle's grand-pawrents attempting to evoke a little envy out of him by going in for a kiss.

"Hey hun, it's so good to see you," the granddad said to his wife.

"So good to see you!" she replied. But just as the two leaned in for a peck, the Golden leapt from the couch and hit grandma in the face. Hmmm, we guess someone didn't want to be left out. Thankfully, it seems like there was no lasting damage, but we're sure the woman isn't going to try and make the pup "jealous" again anytime soon.

"He said 'not on my watch gamma!'" the dog's owner joked in the caption.

Commenters were beside themselves. "That paw was PERSONAL!" joked one commenter. "Slo-mo of the flying punch is sending me," someone else added. "He literally threw paws!" chimed in a third person. "I love this, my toy poodle would CRYYY whenever me and my mom would hug. He wouldn’t stop until we did a group hug," added another commenter.

Why Some Dogs Get Jealous Over Their Humans

It's actually a somewhat common occurrence. Many dogs seem to have green-eyed envy when it comes to their owners getting close to someone else. It can even happen when two humans are getting intimate.

While it might seem like dogs are acting out of jealousy, there are other reasons why they tend to get in between couples or even family members showing affection to each other. One reason is that the dog may believe they are breaking up a perceived conflict. Dogs probably don't understand much about our social rituals, so it sort of makes sense that they'd view two humans getting close to each other as getting into a fight.

Dogs are also attention seekers. They may sense that they're losing your notice and will do whatever it takes to get it back. Or they might sense that something interesting is going on and want to be a part of it.

Curiosity is another reason why dogs seem to kill the mood. They are interested in what you're doing and don't seem to realize they're sort of butting in. And finally, dogs that are nervous or more protective of their owner might also interrupt intimacy or affection. It's not ideal, but as long as you don't get clocked in the face like this poor woman did, it's certainly harmless.
