When are the 2024 Golden Globes?

The Golden Globes are set to air on Jan. 7, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET.

Where will the Golden Globes air?

The 2024 Golden Globes will air on CBS on Jan. 7, 2024. They will also stream live on Paramount+. The Golden Globes and NBC ended a long-term deal after the 2023 broadcast, and the ceremony reportedly had trouble finding a new home at first.

Where are the 2024 Golden Globes?

The 81st annual Golden Globes will take place live from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.

What are the new Golden Globes categories?

In an attempt to connect awards shows with more mainstream entertainment, the Golden Globes are adding two new categories. One for movies (Cinematic and Box Office Achievement—for movies that gross at least $150 million), and one for TV (Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television).

“The new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award is more than just rewarding the year’s top earning and most viewed motion pictures,” Golden Globes EVP Tim Gray said in a statement. “These films have typically not been recognized among industry awards, but they should be.”

Here's more on the two new Golden Globes categories.

The Cinematic and Box Office Achievement includes eight nominees from the year’s most acclaimed, highest-earning and/or most viewed films that have garnered extensive global audience support and attained cinematic excellence.

Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television (aka Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television) gives stand-ups a dedicated award for an individual performance or as part of a comedy group/ensemble.

Who is hosting the 2024 Golden Globes?

Comedian Jo Koy will host the 81st Annual Golden Globes. “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” Koy said in a statement. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”

What was the latest Golden Globes controversy?

In recent years, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA)—the voting group behind the Globes—has been called out for not having a single Black member in its ranks and accused of accepting bribes to promote certain productions and stars. Earlier in 2023, when the event sold to Eldridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions, the HFPA was shuttered altogether. The fate of the Golden Globes then seemed up in the air as reports surface that its new owners were having trouble finding a network or streamer to host the ceremony. Eventually, the show landed at CBS.
