Godzilla vs Kong's eagerly-anticipated sequel finally has an official title following the release of a teaser trailer.

The film will be the fifth entry into the MonsterVerse, following two standalone Godzilla movies, Kong: Skull Island, and 2021's epic Godzilla vs Kong.

A sequel to the action-packed flick was confirmed last year, and now fans have been given a taste of what's to come in the first teaser trailer for the film.

The teaser takes place in Kong's throne room in Hollow Earth, but it isn't the king of the apes sitting in his throne as we are given a glimpse of what could be the latest villain to face the monsters.

The blue-eyed shadowy simian looks out over a field of bones before we settle on two familiar-looking skulls teasing the epic battle that is sure to take place between the titans.

The scene then cuts to the film's title, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, before giving us a closer glimpse of the new, mysterious character.

The latest Godzilla x Kong film is set to be released on March 24, 2024, and will act as a direct sequel to the first film.

Plot details for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire have been kept tightly under wraps, but in the last instalment, we left off after the two titular titans called a truce and left to rule Hollow Earth in harmony.

Numerous stars from the first film are set to reprise their roles, including Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia.

New additions to the film include Moana's Rachel House, The Devil's Hour star Alex Ferns, Shang-Chi actor Fala Chen, and Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens.

Adam Wingard, who directed the first Godzilla vs Kong, is returning to direct the sequel, with the film acting as a reunion between him and newcomer Dan Stevens after the pair worked together on action-horror The Guest back in 2014.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is scheduled to premiere March 24, 2024.
