The GMC Hummer Pickup Just Got a Range BoostDW Burnett

GMC announced last week it's adding new options to the Hummer EV Pickup and SUV lines. The truck and SUV will both get a new 3X trim and on-road wheel and tire packages, providing more efficiency and range.

For both body styles, the new road-oriented wheels and tires come standard on the 3X trim. The reduction in rolling resistance boosts maximum range to 355 miles for the Pickup and 314 miles for the SUV. Opt for the Extreme Off-Road Package on either and range drops to 329 miles and 298 miles, respectively. For the SUV, you can also get the longer-range wheel-and-tire combo on the Edition 1 version, but Edition 1 Pickups get the Extreme Off-Road Package (and its lower range rating) as standard.

The on-road option for the Pickup has another payoff, too. GMC says trucks with the new tire package can tow 8500 lbs, up from 7500 lbs for the Edition 1.

The company also says that the new on-road versions of the SUV and Pickup should offer better dynamics and a sportier driving character. The company didn't mention any payoff in 0-60 time, but we've reached out to see if there's any change in that department.

GMC has not announced a price for the new trim, and we don't know when it'll reach dealers, but we'll be sure to update you when more Hummer EV news breaks.
